BB4BM Supporting UK Schools & Nurseries

BB4BM Supporting Schools and Nurseries

Starting back in 2016 - in addition to supporting charities, we looked at other key communities that could benefit from our help and thus we pledged to sponsor different Schools and Nurseries going forwards.

We have been donating a selection of learning aids, toys and games - with the sole aim of providing items that will make a real difference to as many children as possible.

The wonderful people at The Entertainer ( have agreed to continue supporting our pledge which will allow even more children to benefit with bigger donations.

If you know of a School or Nursery that you believe to be particularly worthy, please use our contact us page to tell us the reason and we will consider adding it to our short list for consideration going forwards.

Ascent Academies Trust - Special Education

Our February sponsored donation went to a trust in Sunderland, North East England.

Toy Donation to Sunderland Trust

The Ascent multi-academy trust comprises of four academies in Sunderland (Ash Trees, Barbara, Hope Wood and Portalnd) that provide exceptional education to young people with special educational needs. By working collaboratively they offer their students the best opportunities and support - along with providing specialist knowledge, advice, consultancy and training to other schools in the Sunderland area.

On receiving their donation, Sherryl, teaher at the Ash Trees Academy, said;

"Thank you so much for our wonderful toys for the School. These will bring such enjoyment to the Children.  Thanks again!"

Details of the group trust are on their website:

Llandysul Family Centre -  Supporting Young Children

Our October sponsored donation went to a great family centre in Ceredition, Wales.

The Llandysul Family Centre offer a range of activities for families, children, parents and even parents-to-be.  Drop-in access is always available.  Their vision is to develop at a local level the skills and nurturing capacity of families, parents and carers so that the well-being and life chances of their children are enhanced.

We were pleased to make a small difference to this well deserving centre, with these comments coming from Catrin, the Family Centre Leader;

"Thank you to one of our wonderful mums for putting our name forwards to be given toys for our centre!  We are very grateful to BBFBM for their donation.  The children at the centre are going to love playing with these new items!"

Unfortunately the centre doesnt have a website yet, but they can be contacted on their facebook page: .

Ladybird - Lossiemouth Pre-School

In July our sponsored donation went to a specialist pre-school in Lossiemouth, Scotland.

toy donation to ladybird group

The Ladybird offers services to childen that need that extra bit of support on a short or long term basis.  They have a team of specialist staff that can cater for a wide variety of needs.

They effectively provide essential developmental help through what is seen as play activities. They are only partially funded and rely on goodwill to survive - needing over £120k per year for things to run smoothly.

We were very pleased to hear that our very modest donation was well received, with Ann Ingram, class administrator saying;

"The toys have all arrived and the children are thrilled with them and their new picnic bench as well.  Much better than sitting on the grass!  Thank you so much for supporting us in this way - all our efforts has to go towards general running costs so extra funding for luxuries like this is always hard to find!"

Puzzle Centre - Specialist Nursery Cenre

Our May sponsored donation went to a specialist autism centre in Middle Claydon, Buckingham.

The Puzzle Centre is a charity that promotes and delivers early intervention for young children with autism or communication difficulties.

Their beleif is that every child with autism or other communication difficulties should have access to prompt, appropriate and high quality education, therapy and support aross the UK.

A very grateful team at the Puzzle Centre, with this comment from Ella Millerchip, Specialist Teacher;

"Our toys arrived yesterday, it was just like Christmas. Thank you so much for supporting our charity, we can't wait to share the toys with our children"

Their centre has this website: - and they can also be found on Facebook.

Busy Otters - Ottery St. Mary Pre-School

In March our sponsored donation went to a playgroup/pre-school in Exeter.

toy donation to busy otters

The donation went to a busy pre-chool that has recently had a new facility created that is located next to a thriving primary school.

This is a committee run charity group and we love they are called 'Busy Otters', focussing on children up to primary school age. They also run a toddler group for children 4 years old and under.

When they recieved their donation, Natilie, classroom assistant, had this to say;

"Busy Otters were delighted to be chosen for a voucher to spend on new equipment. The children couldn't wait to get in the water and sand tray, it's arrived just in time for the nice weather"

Portfield Primary School

Our August sponsored donation went to a primary school in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.

Portfield School is an all-age (3 to 19) local authority maintained Special School serving the needs of over 150 pupils presenting with a wide range of learning needs. These encompass, severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning needs along with complex needs.

It was great to be able to help (in our own very small way!) and we were thankful for the appreciation and kind words that came from Jan Barnettet, Assistant Head teacher;

Very satisfied customers at Portfield school, it’s like Christmas come early!! Thank you so much for your kind donation, they are much appreciated, we will have lots of learning and fun.

Unfortunately this school does not have an official web site yet, but you can contact Jan for more information using this email address:

Cale Green Primary School

In June our sponsored donation went to a primary school in Stockport

Children with gifts at Cale Green Primary School

The donation went to Cale Green Primary School that teaches children from reception through to year 6.  They have a great scheme to promote their shared values throughout the school each year by getting each class to create their own mission statement that aligns with the 'we are one' principle.  We love that they strongly promote friendship and taking care of each other above most other things!

On receipt of their donation, Becky Cullen, teaching assistant said this on behalf of the school;

The children were very happy excited with their new toys for play time, thank you so much BBBM!

Friskney All Saints Primary School

Our next sponsored donation in 2017 went to a primary school in Boston, UK.

It was great to be able to go back and help out this well deserving school for a second time!  We are always humbled to get such great appreciation, with these lovely comments coming from Sally Willerton, teaching assistant;

On behalf of the Small Saints staff and pupils we would like to offer our most grateful thanks for donating to us.  It was wonderful to see the pleasure and excitement that your kindness generated amongst them. As part of a small rural school, the items you've provided represent a huge difference to the facilities we can offer our children and will get them a much wider range of activities to persue..  Once again, please accept our most grateful thanks.

Acorn Preschool - Dussindale Primary School

This was our first sponsored donation of 2017 was in Norwich, Norfolk

Toy Donation - photo to follow

The donation went to Acorn Preschool that was setup in 1977 and is a community based registered charity run by a committee of parents. They are an independent preschool with their own facilities including indoor and outdoor play areas.

Helen Watts sent over the below message on behalf of the preschool;

The toys arrived today thank you so much for your generosity, we were totally in shock as to how much there was. They are unboxing them tomorrow and the children are so excited.  Please tell your followers how much we appreciate your generosity and how happy the children were with up to date toys.

'Teddies' - Thorpe End Pre-School

Our last sponsored donation of 2016 was in Norwich, Norfolk

The donation went to a play group that has proven, long standing success. Their principles are clear - To Learn, Play and Grow! Imagine a place where exciting things happen. That’s what Teddies is all about!

We loved the photo we received of the children with the toys holding up their thank you cards - and here is the message they sent over;

I would like to say a huge thank you for the generous gifts. We are a charity and rely on fundraising and donations. This is beyond our expectations and are enormously grateful. - Sharon Hacker, all the staff and parents and most importantly our children.

Freedom Day Care Nursery & Pre-School

Our fifth sponsored donation in 2016 was in Great Dunmow, Essex.

Toy Donation to Freedom Nursery and Pre School

'Freedom' has been established for just over 8 years and with their highly trained staff they make learning through daily experiences fun.  The building is a farmhouse and surrounded by child friendly gardens and views across open farmland and rolling fields.  The donation was well received and it was great to get these lovely comments;

Thank you so much to BB4BM for donating us such a lovely selection of toys. The children have already got a lot of use out of them. The water toys are a particular favourite. We also got some lovely educational toys to enhance our role plays areas.  These will help us to extend the learning of the children. We also had some footballs which help the children develop their physical skills outside. Our parents have also commented on the new toys.

Longthorpe Toddler Group

Our fourth sponsored donation in 2016 was in Longthorpe, Peterborough.

The donation went to a well deserving toddler group that is close to the hearts of one of our admin team.  It provides a fun, unstructured session for babies and children aged up to 4 years old.  There are craft activities, messy play and song time. We were told that they can never have too many toys, so our donation was well received with this nice comment from Rachel, group organiser;

Thank you for this lovely donation of toys, it really will make a difference to the children!
Unfortunately Longthorpe Toddler Group does not have a web site, but you can contact Rachel Francis for more information using this email address:

Pavilion Playschool

Our third sponsored donation in 2016 went to a playschool in Norwich - close to the heart of one of our admin team!

Toy Donation to Pavillion Playschool

The Pavilion Playschool has only been in its present location since 1999 - operating from two separate buildings, but both with play rooms and outdoor play facilities.  Children aged from two to five years have access to a variety of sessions and the setting supports a number of children who have learning difficulties and/or disabilities and some who speak English as an additional language.  It was great to hear that the donation was going to make a real difference, with this comment coming from Daniella Miller, teaching assistant;

Thank you so much for the donation of toys. The children absolutely love them, the car transporter is our favourite!!
Sadly this playschool hasn't got a dedicated web site that we can share, but it has been featured in the press here due to its great ofsted report!

Friskney Primary School - EYFS Class

Our next sponsored donation in 2016 went to a primary school in Boston, UK.

The roots of this school in Friskney date back to 1615 and it has always been a Church school that promotes a Christian, caring attitude to enable children to have due regard for each other's needs. We admire their strong values (that are not too dissimilar to ours!): Love, Hope, Truth, Respect, Integrity and Courage!  It really was a great privilege to donate, with comments coming from Sarah Shears, EYFS class teacher;

Thank you so much for your very generous gift. We are a small school with a limited budget so such a lovely gift is a wonderful extra for the children. It was very generous of you to donate to us!  The children were very excited to receiving the gifts!

Toy Donation to Friskney Primary School

Rackheath Primary School

Our first donation in 2016 was in the South East of the England, in a small village called Rackheath.

Toy Donation to Rackheath School

The Primary School caters for children from reception year up to year 6 and we love their ethos that a successful school is all about partnership, with one of their guiding principles being 'to be at the centre of the community'.

As with any School, it only has limited funds and restricted resources, so although they do as much as they can to raise additional money to help fund extra activities, it is always a struggle.  It was great to help out by buying some toys and activity related products that will be specifically used to keep the children busy at lunch times when the weather is too bad for them to venture outside.

Chapelfield Children Day Nursery (CCDN)

Our second sponsored donation in 2016 was to a well deserving Children's Day Nursery, also in the south east of England..

The Chapelfield Children’s Day Nursery is situated in Chapelfield Gardens near the centre of Norwich. The nursery is purpose built and has been open since 1990. It offers a safe and secure environment both indoors and outdoors where children can freely explore and learn through a wide variety of play experiences. Within this happy environment, children can grow and develop to their full potential physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually.

As a nonprofit making organisation they were delighted to be considered for this charity contribution from BB4BM.

Emmy Bryne, nursery manager commented, "It meant a lot to us as most of our luxuries and additional purchases that the nursery wants have to be supported by fundraising through our parents in the FRIENDS group.  With this donation we decided it was best to opt for more ICT equipment to support the nursery."
